Thumbnail Storyboard

I find that at this point it is quite useful for me to create a thumbnail storyboard, this animation will not have dialogue, therefore a script isn't my priority, as I have the story in my head I just need to start sketching it out. I've opted to sketch on paper, and as soon as i started I've realized how rusty by drawing has become, note-to-self never miss a life-drawing session again. So here are my thumbnails, I've ended up doing something like 80 panels, and they say that you should do 20 panels for every minute of screen time, so i guess it looks like it's going to be a 4 minute animation.

By doing a thumbnail storyboard I now have a MUCH clearer idea of the story, and where things need to change, I also realized by actually drawing it out, it becomes so much easier to edit it, so the storyboard kind of became an example, in many ways, of what I Don’t want. It is a useful guidance on what type of backgrounds I need to design and it also started me thinking on layouts and continuity. My goal is to make an animatic as clear as possible, because without dialogue, there’s nothing that helps the audience understand, other than clear visuals.
